Leonie is Generali Switzerland's AI voicebot for its non-life customer care centre. Callers state their concern in Swiss German or standard German instead of navigating an IVR menu; Leonie identifies the intent, such as an address change or damage report, can ask follow-up questions and routes the call via the Luware telephony system to the right department. According to Generali's terms of use it runs on GPT-4o (Azure OpenAI) with Azure speech-to-text. Enterprise Bot reports 97-98% speech understanding, 22% fewer misrouted calls (previously about 30%) and 3% better reachability (2025). Generali's customer service handles over 1.6 million calls a year; French, Italian, English and self-service tasks are planned.

Berna Claims Voicebot (Gebäudeversicherung Bern)

by Gebäudeversicherung Bern (GVB)

CH

Berna is an AI voicebot of Gebäudeversicherung Bern (GVB) built on Spitch speech technology and implemented by Adnovum. Introduced in early 2025 to identify callers' concerns and route calls, it began taking hail and storm damage reports independently in July 2025 as a pilot: it understands Swiss German, conducts a structured dialogue, transcribes statements into standard German and compiles a claims dossier for GVB specialists. Questions about the annual invoice were added in November 2025. Berna runs during business hours and answers only when all lines are busy; callers can ask for a human agent. Recordings are deleted after 30 days; 24/7 operation and French are being evaluated. Berna targets peaks such as the roughly 3,000 calls after the August 2024 Bernese Oberland storm.

Zara claims chatbot (Zurich UK)

by Zurich Insurance (UK)

GB

Zara (Zurich Automated Response Agent) is Zurich UK's web chatbot for first notification of loss on property and motor claims, built with Spixii on its conversational process automation platform, which uses an expert-system approach rather than generative AI. Available 24/7, it collects claim details and passes them to a human handler. Piloted in early 2018 for home and motor customers (765 interactions in six weeks, about 20% of reported claims volume, vendor-reported), it was later split into six segment-specific bots for customers and brokers and, in 2025, extended to SME and commercial customers. Zurich UK reports over 3,000 claims reported via Zara since 2018 and an average reporting time under three minutes. Spixii reports it won the Innovative Use of Technology category at the British Claims Awards.

Life Guide Scout is a generative-AI assistant added to Swiss Re's Life Guide underwriting manual, which thousands of underwriters in over 100 countries consult (more than 23 million hits a year). Underwriters, including those at Swiss Re's client insurers, ask questions in natural language and receive answers compiled from curated Life Guide content, with the source of each answer shown. Built on Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, it was launched in English on 22 April 2024 as a pilot programme, with a wider roll-out planned later that year; no later adoption figures were found. Swiss Re's MagnumXP now markets a GenAI 'Underwriting Companion' built on Life Guide, but its link to Scout is not confirmed.

ClaimsGenAI is a generative-AI tool used by Swiss Re Corporate Solutions claims handlers for commercial insurance claims, which exceed 40,000 a year. It triages incoming loss documents such as notices, reports and emails, extracts and organises their data, and flags potential fraud and third-party recovery opportunities by evaluating documents against loss-scenario keywords built on two decades of unstructured claims data. A chatbot answers questions on claims governance. Deployed in mid-2024, in its first year it produced over 1,000 irregularity alerts, a fraud-savings pipeline potentially worth millions of dollars and hundreds of additional recovery opportunities (Swiss Re, June 2025). Human experts keep decision-making authority.

In-house claims fraud scoring (Zurich Switzerland and Zurich Brazil, ZCAM)

by Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich Switzerland, Zurich Brazil)

CH, BR

Zurich's in-house claims fraud-detection system was developed by ZCAM (Zurich Customer Active Management), its wholly owned data-analytics company with about 50 specialists. In Switzerland, most of the more than 600,000 claims received each year pass through a proprietary fraud-scoring tool fed by the Allegro claims system and receive a 0-100 risk score, with high scores prompting closer review by the Special Investigation Unit. Alongside the rule-based system, a machine-learning model has been piloted in German since February 2024 for property and commercial lines. Zurich Brazil adopted ZCAM's system in its affinity business (extended warranties, mobile-phone theft) and extended it to motor claims; the affinity fraud detection rate trebled (Zurich, September 2024).

Motor claims fraud detection model (Baloise)

by Helvetia Baloise (Baloise)

CH

Baloise's Data Lab and the Swiss consultancy LogiLab developed an adaptive, self-learning framework that combines a weighted rule-based approach with machine-learning models to flag suspected fraud in motor insurance claims for further investigation. The framework can be tuned to different KPIs, such as the fraud-suspicion detection rate or expected savings. On historical data it detected about 65% more fraud within the 20% most suspicious cases than the previous approach; LogiLab stated that it was being implemented in operational business (page last updated December 2023). Platform, volumes and go-live date are not publicly documented. Baloise has been part of Helvetia Baloise since December 2025.

Groupe Mutuel's Data & Analytics department uses AI for anomaly and fraud detection on invoices from healthcare providers, hospitals and insured persons. According to Chief Data & Analytics Officer Gaël Gioux (August 2024), AI was first used to automate the review workflows and deploy them at scale, after which the detection techniques were extended; one example is duplicate detection, adapted from scanned paper invoices to PDF invoices. The work, among the first AI projects started about three years earlier, was developed iteratively together with the industry. The team comprises about seven data scientists in a Data & Analytics unit of about 50 people. No accuracy, volume or savings figures are published.
